同素异形体是相同元素构成，不同形态的单质。如：金刚石、石墨、无定形碳等。

Allotrope refers to simple substance of different forms composed of same element, such as diamond, graphite and amorphous carbon, etc.

同素异形体由于结构不同，彼此间物理性质有差异；但由于是同种元素形成的，所以化学性质相似。

Due to different formations, allotropes have different physical properties; however, they are similar in terms of chemical properties because they’re formed by same element.
